Linux Manipur's "FOSS 2008" - IT Talent Search 2.0

How do you feel when you got the first job offer?
Every first achievement in life is very much significant to everyone and for Linux Manipur (LM), the first ever major event "IT Talent Search" was like their first job, first child, first birthday celebration, first anniversary.
Till the month of January/February there was no plan for having another IT-Talent Search like last year. It was a shocking moment for us.
Hundreds of miles away from all the hustle and bustle of Manipur, located in different parts of the globe and connected sparsely by phones and emails, we know the hurdles to conduct such a competition remotely in Manipur. It is becoming more and more difficult to co-ordinate and the kind of infrastructure and money needed to conduct such event remotely was putting a big question mark on every one of us in the LM team.
But, when we close our eyes and try to remember those moments of IT-Talent Search, we remember those smiles worth million dollars of being a winner in spite of coming second, remember those early trips to make to the venue on time, remember those staying in relatives' places who had come from far-off places just to be part of the event. Remember those stories of the rickshaw puller who wanted to be part of the event? The confidence of young minds, their joy and their dreams to do great are seen in our dreams. Those anxious moments of not getting things on time, those endless discussions, those worries, pains and sleepless nights seems to be so miniscule in front of the sweet moments of last year.
How can we let such beautiful memories and smiles go so easily? No excuse is worth enough to be given for not having such a thing again. Where there is a will, there is a way. Come what may we gonna stand against the tide to bring that smiles again. We gonna sweat again, put all the possible effort to make the event happen again because we all know deep inside our hearts that impossible is nothing.

Linux Manipur seeking HELP for 'FOSS 2008'

This time we are coming back for 2 days. And we are coming back as "FOSS 2008" which is little closer to what we believe in - "Free as in freedom". We wish to make the coming generation prepare for the freedom in Open Source. We wish to cover most of the aspect of Open Source and make people aware of it, use it, get benefit from it, and even contribute back to the community if possible.
We are planning for "FOSS 2008" at Manipur University, Canchipur, from 31st of March to 1st April. We are making it FREE REGISTRATION, NO ADMISSION FEES this time too. Some of us are pooling in money, but that comes to about only 20% of the expenses we will be meeting. WE NEED HELP.
This time we are NOT sending personal email to friends seeking for contribution (like we did last time). We are shooting one single mail to our own yahoo group mailing list and this posting at e-pao, and that's it.
It is a long journey. But, we are very sure all of you are also with us somewhere in the shadow. We need you for the grand success of the event. We need you to help us in helping the people in Manipur. After all, our own people are like angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.
